BookSeries.org is another website I launched focusing on the listing of books by author and character, similar to OrderOfBooks.com and BookSeriesInOrder.com.

However despite looking similar from the front end, the back end is completely different. With the other two websites all of the database entries and work are done manually which adds a lot of work. A new Lee Child book is announced? We have to go in manually and add that multiple times – for both the Lee Child entry and the Jack Reacher entry, and then for the geo-targeting.

I wanted to get an API going that’d pull all that automatically to save us a lot of work. We decided the best way to test it out was with a live site and that site is BookSeries.org. Everything about the listings etc is automatic.

It’s also allowed us to have a nice big database to play with so if we want to do any other websites in the book niche in the future, it’ll be easy to do so.
